Our ebay motorhome has arrived!!

It's a very happy day in the Taylor household. Steven was promised a motorhome for being such a big boy in the ER. We're attaching a short video of Steven opening the box and a few pictures. My 5 year old camera is dying on me right before our Disney trip. This is why the video is so short.

Doing Much Better

Steven chose green bands to go on his braces. Everything went well. He got molar buildups too. They keep his teeth from touching (due to the underbite) so the teeth can straighten without bumping each other. He can't chew real well but the underbite appears to already be fixed. You can't even tell he's got one. We flossed today. What a pain in the butt. He looks older now.

These pictures were taken tonight. Jennifer seems to have grown about 2 inches since last month! We're getting excited about Disney.

Shawn's got severe sleep apnea. We still don't have a CPAP. I've been helping alot in Steven's class. We're making costumes for a play they will perform Friday, The Strongest One. He's got his lines memorized.

Sleep study

Shawn got home around 6:15 a.m. this morning. He did have an apneatic (word?) moment. They said if he stopped breathing they would wake him up and put the mask on. They had to put the mask on at some point in the night. He has an appt. to go back Sunday night. They will cancel that appt. if they got enough data last night. They'll discuss their findings with us later this month at his appt. with the lung doctor.

We saw the pediatric dentist today.

Steven's teeth shifted over and in when he had his accident and now he has an underbite and a little space that wasn't there before. Still don't know if the tooth will "take" but we're going forward as if it will and getting braces next Monday. The braces will also help keep the tooth root from adhering to the bone. They put the separators in today.

Steven is an amazing patient. Everyone has commented on how he's such a good patient. He just lays there and does everything they tell him to do. He hasn't complained any! He really tolerates alot but he always did with his ears too. Guess he knew he didn't have a choice. I really have to brag on him. Shawn's proud too. He's going to buy him the coolest motorhome (not a real one).

Thanks PopPop for the Hot Wheels motorhome. It such an obsession with Steven now. Move over garage doors, hello motorhomes!

Just got back from our local dentist's office

We just saw our local dentist. Dr. Johnny has referred us to Dr. Jeff (a pediatric dentist). Our appointment is later today. Dr. Johnny said everything looked pretty good but he wants us to see a pediatric dentist because this is not his area of expertise. He is also concerned with the underbite.

Daddy and Steven after getting home from the ER

Tonight started out normal. Actually, it wasn’t normal at all. Daddy got home from work (St. Louis) at 2:30 p.m. This should have been our first sign for abnormal things to follow. Anyway, we ate dinner and decided to take advantage of the cooler temps and go for a family bike ride. Everything was good until . . . Steven had his first bike wreck. He was sort of zig zagging in fun and ran over a manhole cover and CRASH, down he went face first (actually mouth first) onto the pavement. Something white flew out of his mouth and he’s bleeding. Right away, I knew it was a tooth but which one???? Turns out it’s one of his PERMANENT front teeth root and all. He seems okay until he sees the blood and he knows a tooth came out then he starts crying. Daddy scoops him up and takes him inside while Jennifer and I grab the bikes.

LaLa and BooBoo happen to be in the area so they come over to pick up Jennifer. We end up going to LeBonheur downtown with the tooth in a container of milk. The place was packed and I thought we’d wait all night. Within minutes they took us back and we just got seated when Brad shows up. In my anxious state, I can’t explain how comforting it was to get called RIGHT back, then for Brad to show up. THANK YOU Brad for your support and taking the time to come by. I’m sure you had something to do with Steven’s calm state of mind.

Anyway, Shawn, Brad and Joshua (I hope I have his name right – Brad’s flight partner) held Steven while the doctor tried to pop the tooth back in without pain medication. It didn’t work so they called in the dentist. To make a long story short, he numbed the area, cleaned it out with a little spoon tool and popped the tooth back in. Now, he's got lovely Angelina Jolie lips and will be x-rayed on Monday. I’ll post more later. Right now I really need to go to bed. Good night!

BooBoo and LaLa and their six lovely grandchildren

Hanging out at our #1 rated zoo is one of our favorite things to do. We fit right in with the monkeys.

Daddy

Daddy's sleep study is scheduled for September 8. His new ride is fun to drive and much better on gas. We recently attended his 25 year class reunion. Still traveling but not as much.

Jennifer's summer

Jennifer had a fun-filled summer beginning with summer camp at the end of May. She got to celebrate her birthday twice - early at home and again at camp on her actual birthday. She is pictured here with her camp counselors.

Look at me!

With Steven's balance issues, we were afraid to take off the training wheels. We took them off and he took off (literally). Now all he wants to do is ride his bike.

Grandma's visit

Grandma recently came for a visit. We had lunch at the Tea Room on Friday and spent the day at the Zoo on Saturday. The rest of the time we were either eating (yum yum) or tracking Hurricane Gustav.
