Daddy and Steven after getting home from the ER

Tonight started out normal. Actually, it wasn’t normal at all. Daddy got home from work (St. Louis) at 2:30 p.m. This should have been our first sign for abnormal things to follow. Anyway, we ate dinner and decided to take advantage of the cooler temps and go for a family bike ride. Everything was good until . . . Steven had his first bike wreck. He was sort of zig zagging in fun and ran over a manhole cover and CRASH, down he went face first (actually mouth first) onto the pavement. Something white flew out of his mouth and he’s bleeding. Right away, I knew it was a tooth but which one???? Turns out it’s one of his PERMANENT front teeth root and all. He seems okay until he sees the blood and he knows a tooth came out then he starts crying. Daddy scoops him up and takes him inside while Jennifer and I grab the bikes.

LaLa and BooBoo happen to be in the area so they come over to pick up Jennifer. We end up going to LeBonheur downtown with the tooth in a container of milk. The place was packed and I thought we’d wait all night. Within minutes they took us back and we just got seated when Brad shows up. In my anxious state, I can’t explain how comforting it was to get called RIGHT back, then for Brad to show up. THANK YOU Brad for your support and taking the time to come by. I’m sure you had something to do with Steven’s calm state of mind.

Anyway, Shawn, Brad and Joshua (I hope I have his name right – Brad’s flight partner) held Steven while the doctor tried to pop the tooth back in without pain medication. It didn’t work so they called in the dentist. To make a long story short, he numbed the area, cleaned it out with a little spoon tool and popped the tooth back in. Now, he's got lovely Angelina Jolie lips and will be x-rayed on Monday. I’ll post more later. Right now I really need to go to bed. Good night!
